Urges More Farmers To Adopt Green Environment Friendly Solutions

Fazilka : To acknowledge and laud efforts of farmers to mitigate stubble burning, the Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal personally visited such farmers in Jalalabad villages of Chak Arayian Wala and Bahmani Wala who have sown wheat crop in fields without burning paddy straw. The aim is to appreciate their efforts towards sustainable agri-future and to inspire more farmers towards this cause to save our previous environment for our children, Dr. Duggal said while reiterating state government’s unwavering commitment to provide all assistance to farmers towards this objective.
Congratulating the farmers for good crop quality, Dr. Duggal said this will certainly inspire many more farmers across the region to shun residue burning and cross over to sustainable methods of crop management. We will study and understand this impact and will launch a focussed awareness drive to leverage this success, the DC added.
A farmer of Village Bahmani Wala said he has done direct sowing of wheat in his field of 14 acres with surface seeder. The DC lauded him for staying away from burning his paddy straw for the last 4 years, and asked him to share its benefits with others in the village. This has also improved soil quality and quality of produce from the land, the offjcers of Agriculture Department intimated the DC.
