Labour Department, DLSA organise awareness programme for migrant labourers, other construction workers

Kishtwar : To educate and ensure the implementation of the directions of the Supreme Court of India in letter and spirit, an awareness programme for the migrant Labourers and other construction workers of district Kishtwar was today organised by Department of Labour in collaboration with the District Legal Service Authority here at Conference Hall, DC Office complex Kishtwar.

About 150 labourers of different categories and those from Pakal Dul Hydro Power project and other places participated in the said programme.Assistant Labour Commissioner, Amit Kumar, Labour Officer Fulail Singh, representative from District Legal Service, Advocate Pooja Sharma besides other concerned officials imparted awareness to the participants.

The speakers of gave a detailed insight about various labour laws and Welfare Schemes meant for the workers. In addition to the awareness, problems and difficulties faced by the migrant labourers were also noted down.The Assistant Labour Commissioner interacted with the labourers regarding the issues faced by them and informed about the welfare schemes of the government for the workers like e-shram and PM-Shram Yogi Maan Daan Yojna, etc.

Representative from District Legal Service, Adv Pooja Shan briefed about the basic labour laws including Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Maternity Benefit Act, Child Labour Act, besides general discussion were held with the labourers.

The Labour Officer also gave elaborate account of the benefits of Labour cards to the labourers under Building and Other Construction Act (BOCA). Pamphlets with details of PMSYM, e-SHRAM and JKBOCWW Schemes were also distributed among the labourers during the programme.
