CGC Landran hosts culinary challenge

Landran : Chandigarh College of Hotel management and Catering Technology (CHMCT), CGC Landran hosted a culinary competition on the theme ‘Flavours of India’, in campus today. Organised by Better Kitchen in association with Everest, the competition saw the participation of 47 teams from thirty colleges from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

Participants had the option of competing in two categories namely Kitchen culinary challenge and Bakery championship. The first, second, and third prize winners in the Kitchen culinary challenge were Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh, Punjab University Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh and Chandigarh university, respectively.

The first, second, and third prize winners in the Bakery championship were Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology, Amritsar and CCHMCT, CGC Landran, respectively.

The winners would be participating in the grand finale of the event which will be held at Mumbai in March, 2024. Organised annually, this challenge seeks to offer a unique platform to budding chefs to exhibit their culinary flair. It also aims to promote and popularize regional Indian cuisine and ingredients across the globe.

Dignitaries present on the occasion included Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, Ms. Ekta Bhargava, Publisher, Better Kitchen magazine, Dr. Rajeev.R. Mishra, Director-Principal, CCH, CGC Landran, among others.

The event was presided over by an illustrious judging panel comprising Chef Anuj Kumar Singh, Taj Chandigarh, Chef Ankur Sharma, Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, Chef Avanish Jain, (IHG) Holiday Inn, Zirakpur, Chef Jagmeet, Hotel Radisson Red, Mohali and Chef Ranvir Singh, Hotel Lemon Tree Premier, Chandigarh.

The participating teams were adjudged on the basis of ingredients used in the delicacies, creativity and innovation employed in their preparation and final presentation in keeping with the overall theme of the challenge.
