Red Cross Branch Amritsar celebrated World Red Cross Day- 2022

Amritsar : “8th May “The World Red Cross Day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sir Jean Henry Dunant, the Founder of Red Cross Movement who was born on 8th May, 1828 in Switzerland. Red Cross Branch, Amritsar celebrated, the World Red Cross Day- 2022 at Red Cross Bhawan, Amritsar with the theme “Be Human Kind”. Sh. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Cabinet Minister, Rural Development and Panchyat, Govt. of Punjab presided over the function as Chief Guest. Sh. Rajesh Sharma, PCS, SDM, Asr.-II-Cum-Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Amritsar welcome the Chief Guest. On the arrival of the Chief Guest, bouquets were presented. Chief Guest inaugurated the blood donation camp.
The portraits of Sir Jean Henry Dunant & Bhai Ghaniya ji were garlanded also floral tribute was given by other VIP’s and participants .

He also highlighted about the Battle of Solferino where about 40,000 persons were lying dead or wounded. Chief Guest briefed the contribution of Sir Henry Dunant during the battle. On this day, S. Harpreet Singh Sudan,IAS, Deputy Commissioner-Cum- President, Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch, Amritsar has initiated to create mass awareness campaign through Red Cross Branch, Amritsar so that sufficient availability of blood be made for the suffering humanity. More blood donation camps be organized to meet the shortage of blood. In his message, he told the importance of the blood and said Blood Donation is a great donation. It is to donate not to shed. He also appealed to the people to donate their blood generously to make the noble cause a grand success. Today, 8th May 2022 , 35 donors donated their blood to bridge the gap in between demand and supply. Sh. Tejinder Singh, Executive Secretary, Red Cross gave a vote of thanks and encouraged the donors to donate blood regularly .Worthy Chairperson of Hospital Welfare Section and other members of Red Cross and patron were also present.
