DC Ludhiana Sakshi Sawhney takes stock of flood protection works in areas along with Sutlej

Ludhiana : Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney visited flood-prone areas along the Sutlej River in the Ludhiana East sub-division on Thursday. She reviewed the measures being taken by the district administration to strengthen vulnerable points.
Sawhney was accompanied by SDM Vikas Hira, DRO Gurjinder Singh, DFO Rajesh Gulati, SDO Drainage Gagandeep Singh, and other officials.
The Deputy Commissioner visited Garhi Fazil, Garhi Sheru, and Mattewara villages.
During the visit, Sawhney stressed the need to establish a viable mechanism to complete all flood control arrangements before the rainy season. She asked the officials to remain alert to avoid any untoward incidents during the monsoon.
The officials informed Sawhney that the reconstruction work of the 3500-ft long Dhussi Bandh in Mattewara would begin soon.
This project has been approved as a priority work to be undertaken in the Flood Season 2024 and funds worth Rs 3 crore have been sanctioned for the same. The tendering process has also been started. In addition, the work of laying studs, revetment, and raising of Dhussi Bandh in Garhi Fazil will be completed next week.
An amount of Rs 80 lakh is being spent on protecting the areas near village Garhi Fazal in flood-like situations which were badly affected in the last floods.Sawhney said that the district administration would make adequate arrangements to meet any situation during the rainy season. She asked the officials to ensure that work for strengthening the vulnerable points along the river was completed at the earliest.
She emphasized that every effort must be made to evolve a fool-proof mechanism for fortifying the weak points along the Sutlej River so that people do not face any inconvenience during the rainy season. She stated that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure that people do not face any problems during the rainy season.

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਉਪ ਮੰਡਲ ਅਧੀਨ ਸਤਲੁਜ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਕੰਢਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਉਪਰਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ। ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਐਸ.ਡੀ.ਐਮ. ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੀਰਾ, ਡੀ.ਆਰ.ਓ ਗੁਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡੀ.ਐਫ.ਓ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਗੁਲਾਟੀ, ਐਸ.ਡੀ.ਓ ਡਰੇਨੇਜ ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਫਾਜ਼ਿਲ, ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਸ਼ੇਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਤੇਵਾੜਾ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਦੌਰੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵੀ ਵਿਧੀ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਨਸੂਨ ਸੀਜ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਅਣਸੁਖਾਵੀਂ ਘਟਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੌਕਸ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੱਤੇਵਾੜਾ ਵਿੱਚ 3500 ਫੁੱਟ ਲੰਬੇ ਧੁੱਸੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਪੁਨਰ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਜਲਦ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਨੂੰ ਫਲੱਡ ਸੀਜ਼ਨ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਕੰਮ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਲਈ 3 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੇ ਫੰਡ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਂਡਰਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਫ਼ਜ਼ਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੱਡਾਂ, ਰੇਹੜੀਆਂ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਧੁੱਸੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਅਗਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਪਿੰਡ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਫਜ਼ਲ ਨੇੜੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਏ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ 80 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ਼ੀ ਖਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਅਣਸੁਖਾਵੀਂ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਪੁਖਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਕਿਨਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਜਲਦ ਤੋਂ ਜਲਦ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਸਤਲੁਜ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਿਨਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਅਸੁਵਿਧਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਕਤ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇ।
