The deputy commissioner and police officers conducted a raid at the Sutlej river in the village of Ratnana

S.B.S Nagar : After receiving a complaint, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa conducted an impromptu check with police officers in the river at Ratnana village on the Sutlej River on Saturday and seized two trolleys including a person. The Deputy Commissioner said that he was receiving a complaint that after the rains in village Ratnana, sand has washed away in huge quantities.
Taking advantage of this, the mining mafia collects sand from the river and supplies it to other cities through tipper trolleys. After receiving the information, when the river was raided, it was found that a special dump had been made by collecting sand from the river by the mining mafia.
Two trolleys and a person were caught along with this dump. The police department has interrogated the person and instructed to take strict action by filing a complaint as per the rules.
The Deputy Commissioner said that illegal mining will not be tolerated at all in the district and instructions have been given by the police and officials of the concerned department to form special teams and have been asked to conduct raids day and night from time to time. He said that along with illegal mining, the banks of the river are also damaged, with which there is a risk of breaking the banks when the water comes in excess, which also increases the risk of loss of life and property.
