Jalandhar : With vaccination capacity in all private and government healthcare establishments was augmented to 6000 daily, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today exhorted all eligible beneficiaries to make vaccination drive a mega success by ensuring the maximum inoculation in the district.Presiding over a meeting to review the current situation arising from the second Covid-19 wave, the deputy commissioner said the vaccination was the only way to keep the virus spread under check but it would only be possible with people’s participation. He mentioned that as many as 41 private and 13 government hospitals were providing vaccination facilities to the beneficiaries adding all government-run primary health centers, community health centers, and sub-divisional health centers would start these services from Monday onward. With such a vast mechanism set up by the administration for providing a smooth vaccination to the beneficiaries, Mr. Thori said that it was now people’s duty to come forward for the inoculation.
The deputy commissioner said the administration has already enhanced its sampling and contact tracing capacity, with the collection of 21,259 samples and 19.69 contacts of positive patients traced in the last seven days. Of the total collected samples, a total of 7596 samples were collected from government and private schools in the district. He mentioned that about 68.18 percent of beds in level-2 and 50.39 percent in level-3 facilities were available in the district besides the availability of 79.27 percent ventilators. He further added that so far 9679 healthcare workers and 10652 front-line workers have been vaccinated alongside 9403 senior citizens and 1750 beneficiaries between the age group of 45-59 years with comorbidities were also inoculated.The deputy commissioner directed the police authorities to ensure strict compliance of night curfew in the district and challan those who violate golden principles of wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands, etc. He further asked the officials to keep a vigil on all kinds of gatherings in the district and penalize those who violate the government’s protocol concerning mass gatherings.
