Captain Amarinder is a traitor for the people of Punjab : Harpal Singh Cheema

Chandigarh : Reacting strongly to the statement made by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh regarding the ongoing farmers’ movement that the farmers’ should accept the proposal of the central government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that it proves Captain’s double standard on the issue, as under a collusion with the centre government, he was trying to suppress the farmers’ movement. In a statement issued from the party headquarters, senior leader of the AAP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that Captain Amarinder’s recent statement regarding the farmers’ protest that the farmers should accept the proposal given by the central government which will halt the implementation of the central farm laws for two years, was reprehensible and an anti-farmer statement.Cheema said that the statement made by Captain Amarinder Singh proves yet again that he had been compromised and was acting at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “He has proved yet again that he has some internal setting with the ruling dispensation. Both Captain and Modi are hand in glove and are working to suppress the farmers’ movement by opting various tactics and maneuvers,” he added. Lashing out at Captain Amarinder Singh, Cheema said that Captain had been in favour of the black farm laws since his support in the High Power Committee. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party was already exposing the hypocrisy of the Captain government time and again.Slamming Captain Amarinder for his anti-people policies, Cheema termed Captain as a traitor. “You are a traitor for the people of Punjab, who is misleading them at every point. The people will not forgive you for this and will give a befitting reply,” he added. Cheema said that Captain had proved yet again that he had been compromised and was speaking the same language as that of PM Modi. “Captain Amarinder has been trying to derail the farmers’ protest from the very beginning. He organised parallel rallies in support of the farmers just to divert people’s attention away from the protests. He tried to fool the farmers by passing amendment bills which had no standing,” said Cheema.
The AAP leader further said that Captain had tried to build a divide between the farmers and urban masses by stating that the rail roko agitation was leading to coal shortage in Punjab. “When none of these strategies worked, he started speaking the language of the BJP and started appealing to the farmers to accept the proposal. His recent statement today shows yet again that he has made a deal with the BJP,” said Cheema. He said that the AAP had said it time and again, that Captain Amarinder Singh acting as centre’s puppet should immediately join the BJP. “Captain Amarinder Singh is basically a Modi’s agent in Punjab who toes the line sent by his bosses and has proved it time and again during the farmers’ struggle. He should instead join the BJP officially,” he added.Cheema said that it was very unfortunate that a CM of a state that is at the forefront of these protests was asking the farmers to make a deal with the central government and accept their proposals. He said that Captain Amarinder had not done anything to help the farmers of Punjab. Cheema said that when the farmers were facing water cannons in the peak of the winter, Captain did nothing. He said that when the farmers were sleeping under the open sky in severe cold, Captain did nothing at that time also. “After January 26, when many children of Punjab went missing, he did nothing, and now after the MC elections, he is appealing to the farmers to accept the central government’s deal. This is absolutely shameful,” added Cheema. He said that with this, Captain’s anti-farmer face had exposed yet again, which he had set out to discredit the movement.
