Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Led Punjab Govt Leaving No Stone Unturned To Help Flood Victims, Says Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh

Dr Balbir Singh urges Punjabis sitting in the country and abroad to make maximum contributions to Chief Minister's Relief Fund

Mohali : Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Friday reviewed the arrangements being made at the government health institutions and the health facilities of the district to help the flood-affected people. The Health Minister, while instructing the health officials at the local BR Ambedkar Medical College, asked them to do concerted efforts to provide the best medical facilities in the flood-affected areas.
He said that extending help to the flood-affected people is the topmost priority of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government, for which the Chief Minister as well as all the ministers and MLAs and Aam Aadmi Party leaders and volunteers are working day and night to help the affected people.
On this occasion, Dr Balbir Singh also held a meeting with the representatives of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), private hospitals of the district, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and senior citizen associations to seek their cooperation in this difficult time. He said that, although, the Punjab government and the health department have not been leaving any stone unturned to help the flood victims, but still everyone’s cooperation is needed in this difficult situation.
He said that medical associations, private hospitals and NGOs can contribute by helping patients by doing the general examinations, treatment, providing ambulance service, organising medical camps, distributing medicines and rations etc. He said that the IMA and various NGOs are already contributing in different ways.
The representatives of IMA, private hospitals and NGOs present on the spot assured the Health Minister to provide every possible help, support and assistance to help the flood victims. The Health Minister said that due to the joint efforts of all, the situation has been brought under control to a large extent as the water has started receding gradually.
He said that there the government hospitals of the state are fully prepared to provide treatment to the flood victims and are being treated completely free of cost. He appealed to the Punjabis sitting in the country and abroad to help the flood victims by contributing to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The Health Minister announced that he also donated one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also said that this is for the first time that the entire government under the leadership of the Chief Minister is on the ground to help the victims in this hour of grief.
Dr Balbir Singh said that after the flood waters recede, there is a fear of spreading diseases in the risky areas, due to which more water samplings are being taken for testing and container survey is being conducted at houses to protect people from vector-borne diseases including dengue, malaria etc. He said that there is no risk of the epidemic spreading so far.
He also appealed to the people to drink boiled water (after cooling) and if anyone has any symptoms should go to the nearest health institution immediately. He said that the Punjab Health Department is fully committed to providing the best health services to the people.
