Minister Anmol Gagan Mann Visits Dumping Ground of Kharar
Directs MC Authorities to identify new site for waste management
Kharar : Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister and Kharar MLA, Ms Anmol Gagan Mann, today, visited the dumping site of Municipal Council Kharar and asked the MC Authorities to clear the heaps of solid waste at the earliest possible to provide respite to the surrounding residents.
She said that besides clearing of the existing dumps of solid waste, the pouring of daily wastage of approximately 70 tonnes should also be stopped and an alternate site for the daily waste would be identified immediately.
The MC authorities apprised the Minister that the existing contractor who was given the contract of remediation of waste has cleared 84000 MT of the solid waste besides shifting of 21000 MT. Now, as the contractor has stopped the work and not ready to further remediation work, the MC has decided to rope in another contractor to complete the work.
The Minister ordered the MC officials to immediately float the tender for the remediation of the waste gathered here to provide respite to the residents from the stinking smell. She said that it’s our prime responsibility to take care of the residents instead of causing problems for them.
Minister Anmol Gagan Mann entrusted the task of hiring a new firm for remediation and shifting of fresh waste dump from the existing site to the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kharar, Ravinder Singh to complete it in a time bound manner. She categorically stated that a time window of one and half year already passed and now it’s time to perform, not excuses in the interest of the residents of the MC Area.
