World soil day was celebrated in all three blocks of District SAS Nagar. Team of Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under leadership of block level Agriculture officers, sensitized the farmers to ‘ keep soil alive, protect biodiversity’ which is the theme of world soil day 2020. Experts described the importance of soil, biodiversity, ill effects of soil pollution, strategies to mitigate the menace and concept of soil health, role of soil biodiversity for sustainable soil health.They made the farmers aware on how to use optimum levels of

Team of Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under leadership of block level Agriculture officers, sensitized the farmers to ‘ keep soil alive, protect biodiversity’ which is the theme of world soil day 2020. Experts described the importance of soil, biodiversity, ill effects of soil pollution, strategies to mitigate the menace and concept of soil health, role of soil biodiversity for sustainable soil health.They made the farmers aware on how to use optimum levels of fertilizers and pesticides for soil health maintenance. Importance of soil health cards was also stressed upon. Farmers also participated with keen interest and they took pledge not to use fertilizers without recommendation. They requested to provide mobile soil testing van in the district.Farmer Jaswinder singh, Bhajan singh Namberdar, Satwinder Singh Panch, Gurcharn Singh, Jagtar Singh, Nambardar Kuldeep Singh, Ex- Sarpanch Surjit Singh and others helped to organize soil day awareness programmes at Village Saini Majra in Majri block ,Devinagar in Derabassi and , village Bharatpur in block Kharar .
