NYK organises district level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament at GDC Doda

Doda : The Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda, organised a District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Doda today. The event was held at GDC Doda and aimed to celebrate India’s G20 Presidency as well as the International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE.

Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan attended the event as Chief Guest while DIO Doda, Ashraf Wani was the Guest of Honour. Incharge Principal, Dr Ajaz Ahmed Wani was also present as a special guest.

In his welcome address, District Youth Officer, NYK Doda, Khushal Gupta, briefed attendees on the objectives of organising the event while Dr Ajaz Wani gave an awareness lecture on G20 and its importance to India’s presidency.

In his address to students at GDC Doda, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised that youth are the future and soldiers in fighting against societal evils such as drug abuse, social taboos and terrorism.

He praised India’s leadership in providing an eco-sustainable model of development and highlighted its success in vaccinating over 100 crore people against Covid-19. He urged all to fight against drug abuse, promote cleanliness and contribute their ideas to make Doda truly ‘Adbhut’.

Head of Department, Environmental Science at GDC Doda, Dr Sumit Kotwal, spoke about the International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE. He emphasised the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future” and encouraged attendees to keep their environment clean and green.

NSS volunteers Jagdeep Singh, Sagar Thakur and Saima Banoo also shared their views on G20 before students performed a cultural show. Other dignitaries in attendance included Dr Akriti Parihar, Prof Purnima Manhas, Prof Upma Katoch, Dr Anita Kotwal and Dr Akhter Hussain.

The event was coordinated by Teacher and NCC Officer, Arif Rana and attended by volunteers Tilak Raj, Jugnu Bhagat, Ahamer Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar and Jasveer Singh among others.
