Director Agriculture Kashmir visits Kupwara

Srinagar : To take stock of the present status of Oil seed crop (Mustard), the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited different areas of Kupwara district.Keeping in view the commercial importance of oil seed crops and the heavy dependence of imports for edible oils from other states of the country, the department of Agriculture this year has organized a massive campaign to introduce oil seed in almost all the districts of Kashmir division.With this reason, current year additional areas were brought under national mission on edible oils to promote the oil seed (Mustard) sector in Kashmir Division.During the visit, the Director met some farmer delegations and held deliberations with them. He assured them of every cooperation and technical supervision from the department.

Furthermore, Director impressed upon the officers/ official of the department to make this massive campaign (under National Mission on Edible Oils) successful and contribute their bit to realize the benchmarks and targets already set by the department for this year in the oil seed sector.He stressed upon the officers of the district to sensitize the farmers regarding the benefits of different Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Flagship programmes implemented by the department for the progress and development of farming sector.Her said that the Department is focusing on bringing new crops to the agriculture scenario of the valley and added that the encouraging trend is that farmers from different sections of the society and economic class are accepting this with open arms.
