2nd National level Gatka Refresher Course successfully conducted by Gatka Federation USA

New York : Gatka Federation USA in collaboration with New York Gatka Association. organized its 2nd National Gatka Coaching and Refresher course-2023 at Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lubana Sikh Center, Richmond Hill New York under the aegis of World Gatka Federation (WGF)
Dr. Deep Singh, General secretary of World Gatka Federation & Gatka Federation USA informed that they have organized several gatka training camps in various states of US with the help of the Gurdwara Committees, Educational Institutes and other sports organizations. Gatka Federation USA is pro-actively working on their state chapters throughout the US.
He further stated that the 2nd National Gatka Refresher Course was a unique camp for Gatka coaches and the referees. Purpose of this was to bring all gatka players, coaches, referees and judges to one platform, & prepare them for upcoming Gatka seminars, tournaments and National Gatka Championships. He added that the 1st National Gatka Championship will be organized soon.
S. Daler Singh, Vice Chairman, Jaskirat Singh, Secretary & Sarabjit Kaur Finance Secretary of New York Gatka Association stated that the aim of this camp was to spread awareness about Sikh Martial Art and introduce the young generation to this rich cultural heritage of Gatka .
The Refresher Camp organizing committee has ensured that every application must be reviewed & scrutinized before the selection of the participants to join the course. He also added that Gatka was not popular within female gatka players but now many female players are thrilled to learn gatka and are excited to participate to learn the coaching skills.
Janamjeet Singh, Technical Director & Organizing Secretary from National Gatka Association of Canada delivered the lecture and shared his technical skills during the practical session with referees & Judges. He added further that a huge number of Gatka Players have been participating in this Refresher course & Gatka not only helps the Officials to know about the heritage in detail but also helps them physically & emotionally.
Camp Participation certificates were distributed by Dr. Deep Singh & Daler Singh jointly. Jaskirat Singh, Gurjot Singh, Sujan Singh & Jasmine Kaur were ranked as National level Referees/Judges.On this occasion Kalvinder Singh Rai, Finance Secretary Gatka Federation USA, Sujan Singh, Gagandeep Singh UP & Baljinder Singh all Senior Coaches from NY were also present.
