Biomed lab science day celebrated at RBU

Mohali : Rayat Bahra University commemorated International Biomedical Laboratory Science Day. The programme was inaugurated by former Dean cum Head of Department of Parasitology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Rakesh Sehgal, presently working as Dean and Professor of Microbiology in Arupadai Veedu, Medical College & Hospital (AVMC&H) who was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion he said that it was encouraging that the University School of Allied Health Sciences (USAHS) of Rayat Bahra University, besides focusing on academics, was concerned to observe not only national events but also observe international days too, to spread awareness of the healthcare system.
Dr Rakesh Sehgal said the biomedical laboratory technologists and scientists were indispensable contributors to quality and patient safety in healthcare working diligently behind the scenes to provide accurate and reliable laboratory testing services that were essential for effective patient care.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of RBU, presiding over the function said biomedical laboratory technologists and scientists were indeed guardians of quality and patient safety in healthcare. They played a crucial role in the diagnostic process, providing accurate and reliable laboratory results that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases.
They contributed to quality and patient safety, he added.Dr Pankaj Kaul, Dean of University School of Allied Health Science (USAHS), said that more than 150 students and faculty members attended the event.Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of RBU, Dr Satish Bansal, Dean of Academics, Dr Lalit K Gupta, and Dr S Koley, Associate Deans, USAHS, RBU, were also present on the occasion.
KS Rana, Associate Professor cum Unit Head, Medical Laboratory Science, USAHS, proposed a vote of thanks to all those who extended support to make the event a success.
