Nutrition and dietetics Students from CGC Landran win culinary competition

Landran : Six students from CCH, CGC Landran bagged the first prize in a culinary competition organised as a part of an event commemorating Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2023 event organised by AIMS Mohali. Arya Koul, Anjali Suhalia, Nandani Gumber, Manisha Gaur, Martina, and Yukta, 4th year students of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) sealed the top spot by making delectable & nutritious ladoos and protein bars using millets as the principal ingredient. Their creation aimed at showcasing the various creative ways in which healthy or nutrition packed food can be prepared; dispelling the commonly held notion that it is mostly bland.
In addition to this achievement, 4th year BSND students Aasheesh, Gursimran, Gursharan and Mannat spearheaded efforts at helping attendees at the event make informed dietary choices for better health through food stalls, interactive games, anthropometric measurements and personalised diet counselling. The students were mentored by CCH, CGC Landran faculty members including Dr. Pooja Bhatt and Dr. Nivedhika Rai Vaid who delivered lectures as guest speakers at the event. They presented their views on the topics- ‘Food gimmicks and their effects’ and ‘Nutrigenomics: Future for sustenance’, respectively.
Rashtriya Poshan Maah is Government of India’s flagship initiative focused on cultivating practices that foster health, wellness and immunity against diseases and malnutrition. It also aims to spread awareness about holistic nutrition by encouraging nutrition seeking behaviour at both individual and community levels. CCH, CGC Landran had also organised a number of awareness building activities to mark Rashtriya Poshan Maah. These included seminars, guest lectures, visits to nearby villages for awareness sessions, and participation in inter-college competitions, among others.
