CGC Landran convenes national conference on inclusive and equitable education for disadvantaged groups

Landran : Chandigarh College of Education (CCE), CGC Landran in association with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Panjab University, Chandigarh organised a two-day national conference on, ‘Inclusive and equitable education for disadvantaged groups: Realising SDG4 and NEP 2020’.
The conference aimed to serve as a forum for thought leaders to come together and discuss effective suggestions for providing students especially those from socio economically disadvantaged backgrounds, equitable access to quality education.
The agenda was to discuss the same in context of the New Education Policy 2020 as well as the global education development agenda reflected in Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) as envisioned by the United Nations in 2015.
The Dignitaries gracing the occasion on day one of the conference included the chief guest, Dr. B.S Ghuman, former Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala, the guest of honour, Mr. Avtar Singh, Consultant, ICSSR, NWRC, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Prof. Sudesh Mukhopadhyay, Former Chairperson RCI, Head, Dept. of Inclusive Education, NIEPA & Director, SCERT Delhi and Dr. Subhash Sharma, Director, Centre for Economic Policy Research, State Vice President, BJP Punjab, Independent Director, Railtel Corporation, among others. The Chief Guest on day two of the conference was Dr. Satbir Bedi (IAS), Chairperson, Punjab State Education Board, Mohali and Dr. B.P. Bhardwaj, Head, Division of Educational Research & Former Head, Department of teacher education, NCERT.
Day one of the conference in addition to keynote address by Prof. Mukhopadhyay saw a host of activities including a panel discussion, workshop on open education resources and paper presentation. Day two of the conference began with an online session on NCERT’s Innovative Accessible Teaching Learning material for creating inclusive class rooms conducted by Prof. Anupam Ahuja, former professor and Head, International Relations division, NCERT. This was followed by interactive sessions and paper presentations. The conference concluded with the felicitation of best paper presenters and vote of thanks by Dr. Sneh Bansal, Principal, CCE, CGC Landran.
