LPU’s fashion students to showcase their sustainable designs at Delhi Times Fashion Week-2023

LPU students are participating in this prestigious show third time this year

Jalandhar : Twenty two students from the School of Fashion Design at Lovely Professional University (LPU) are going to participate in three day ‘Delhi Times Fashion Week (DTFW)’, commencing on 26th May at The Grand in New Delhi.
This is one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the fashion industry where top designers from India and abroad showcase their latest creations. LPU students are specifically invited to showcase their sustainable designs at the event.
While wishing the best of showcasing to the hard-working fashion students; LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal shared: “We all at LPU are proud that our fashion designers will present their self-created ensembles in Delhi along with other top designers from across the country and globe.”
Dr Mittal further added: “Our fashion students are consistently provided with renowned platforms, like DTFW, where they get hands-on experience and global exposure. This all is brought to them through spectacular fashion events like this or by working alongside top celebrities, and nationally and internationally reputed fashion designers.”
LPU students are participating in this prestigious show for the third time this year. Later on they will also participate in Chandigarh Times Fashion Week for a full show in September 2023, for the first time.In fact, LPU has one of the best fashion design schools that nurture the most creative students from across India and abroad.
LPU also works closely with renowned fashion houses and institutions including those in Italy, France, Greece, Spain and other fashion dominating countries. In addition, several industry linkages of LPU facilitate on campus placements to make students start their career in challenging positions with leading national and international companies.
Fashion students are placed in fortune 500 companies at packages of many lakhs.Every year, LPU also celebrates its annual graduating fashion show at the campus itself, where a good number of fashion queens of different countries, including German Supermodel Claudia Ceisla, have walked on the LPU ramp along with LPU students, wearing students’ creations exclusively.
Nothing else can be more motivating than this to a novice designer.Dean at LPU’s School of Design (Fashion Design & Technology) Prof Bhaskar Mitra informed that student-designers will participate with their various innovative collections.
Themes covered this time include ‘Eye-conic Splendour’ inspired by the eyes of drag queens; ‘Glitch – the technical fault’- a combination of texture and pattern minus perfection; ‘Alluring outburst’ to break monotony in men’s clothing; ‘Hypnagogic Terrors’ inspired from haunting phenomenon of sleep paralysis; ‘Rogue but Vogue’- inspired by post pandemic rejuvenation; and, ‘Revival of Being’ to demonstrate positive abstraction of various changes in our body.
