5th Meeting of Maharashtra Village Social Transformation Foundation Held Under Chairmanship of Devendra Fadnavis

The fifth meeting of the Governing Council of the Maharashtra Village Social Transformation Foundation (VSTF) was held today at the Sahyadri Guest House, Mumbai, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Tata Trust Chairman Noel Tata, Chief Financial Advisor Pravin Singh Pardeshi, along with other Governing Council members, were present for the review and discussion of rural development strategies and initiatives. During the meeting, Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted that the projects implemented in the first phase of the VSTF initiative had shown positive and encouraging results. 

He added that while some shortcomings were noted, the second phase will focus on addressing them more effectively, with an emphasis on creating an organizational structure driven by local manpower to ensure sustainable development.

“Every initiative must bring about a tangible and meaningful change in the lives of rural communities. Governance must remain people-centric, with officials and employees committed to maintaining service delivery, even after the tenure of Fellows is over,” the Chief Minister said.

Key Areas of Focus Discussed in the Meeting:

Production and Infrastructure: Strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring sustainable employment opportunities.

Healthcare: Enhancing health services with a focus on early detection of cancer and other serious diseases.

Cluster Development & Data-Based Governance: Promoting cluster-based development and using data-driven systems for more effective governance.

Water Conservation & Rural Development: Promoting integrated rural development with water management at its core.

On this occasion, two important MoUs were signed:

Between Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), VSTF, and the Quality Council of India (QCI).

Between the Maharashtra Forest Department, VSTF, and Sterlite Tech Foundation (STF) for tree plantation activities on land belonging to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation and other identified lands.

Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed gratitude to partner organizations including Tata Trust, JSW, STL, IDBI, GIC RE, Goenka Group, CAT Tires, BPCL, HPCL, and several others for their valuable cooperation in advancing the mission of VSTF.
