Ensure Availability of Chlorine Pallets to all vulnerable areas, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain to officials
BDPOs, Public Health and Health Departments to work in tandem to protect residents from waterborne diseases

S A S Nagar: Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has issued directions to ensure availability of Chlorine pallets (tablets) to all vulnerable areas to contain waterborne diseases in the SAS Nagar District. She was reviewing the situation of water sampling and distribution of Chlorine tablets to affected areas during a meeting with ADC (RD), ADC (UD), Public Health and Health officials.
Expressing concern over the surfacing of Diarrhea cases in the district, she said that post flood health measures must be taken to make the people aware of the waterborne and vector borne diseases as the weather conditions are much more conducive in breaking out of these diseases.
She directed the District Development and Panchayat officer to make sure to cover each and every house of vulnerable habitations or affected areas through its Panchayat Secretaries , Public Health and Health employees to deliver Chlorine pallets in sufficient quantity.
Besides, the health department to also ensure the well being of the patients having symptoms of Diarrhea, Cholera as follow up cases after being detected by the department. He asked the Civil Surgeon to alert the field staff that in case of non-recovery, the patient must be admitted to nearby hospital to avoid further loss.
The deputy commissioner Aashika Jain stressed the need of adopting an SOP like COVID Protocols to protect the residents from the post flood diseases by setting up a control room in each Sub division by respective SDMs. each Control room to have two operators who will make a call to the patient to know about his/her health condition and the data would be shared with Health Department for immediate action, she further added.
She said that the residents must be made aware of the use of Chlorine pallets carefully. As one tablet is sufficient to disinfect 20 litres of water so it must be cleared that the treated water must not be used before half an hour.
The meeting attended by the ADC (RD) Amit Bamby, ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, Civil Surgeon Dr Mahesh Kumar Ahuja, DDPO Amrinder Singh Chauhan, Executive Engineer Public Health Ramandeep Singh and District Epidemiologist Dr Shalinder Kaur.
