Dr Oberoi announces major relief for Punjab’s flood victims ‘Will construct houses for those, who lost theirs to the floods’

Trust distributes dry and ready rations, and 250 tonnes of pickled maize for animals, in flood-affected areas

Amritsar : Coming to the aid of the flood victims, who have lost their homes to the deluge, Dr S P Singh Oberoi, a renowned businessman of Dubai, and Head, Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, has said announced the construction of new houses for them.
Sharing details, Dr S P Singh Oberoi, Founder of the Trust, said that during the floods it had come to the fore that some people’s homes had either collapsed or had been rendered uninhabitable after the floodwater entered their habitations. Therefore, the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust has decided to build new homes for such needy people.
He added that the district-level units of the Trust had been directed to prepare and share the lists of affected folks in the areas under their jurisdiction so that the construction work can be started as soon as things return to normalcy. Oberoi also clarified further that for the reconstruction for the houses the trust will form a separate special committee, who will examine the each case and recommend further.
Dr Oberoi further disclosed that in the past few days, the Trust, in keeping with the demands raised by the government representatives, civil and police administration, as well as the Red Cross Societies, had distributed at least 250 tonnes of pickled maize, and huge amounts of dry and ready rations among the flood victims, and added that charitable activities pertaining to the distribution of relief material among the affected folks were being continued in accordance with the emerging needs.
