Yudhvir Sethi inaugurates vital sewage infrastructure project worth Rs 41 cr

Senior BJP leader and MLA East Constituency, Yudhvir Sethi inaugurated a vital sewage infrastructure project aimed at transforming the urban sanitation landscape of Jammu city. The project, titled “Design, Survey and Execution of Sewerage Scheme – Missing Links of Division A Jammu City under AMRUT 2.0”, has been initiated by the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) and marks a major step forward in bridging critical sewage gaps in several wards of the city. 

The inaugural function was attended by senior officials of the UEED including Rajesh Gupta, Chief Engineer; Munner Hussain, Superintending Engineer; Ashwani Khajuria, Executive Engineer; Sadiq Hussain Bhatti, Assistant Executive Engineer; JE Randhir Singh, and prominent people of the area.

The ambitious project has an estimated cost of Rs 41 crore, with ₹34 crore allotted for execution. The contract has been awarded to R&B Infraprojects Limited, a reputed infrastructure firm, which will be responsible for the design and implementation of the project. 

It aims to cover seven major wards of the city Ward Nos. 16, 17, 18, 19, 24, by laying down a comprehensive 28-kilometer sewage network. This infrastructure will ensure proper and scientific sewage disposal by providing connections to around 12,500 households, significantly improving hygiene and living standards in the region.

While addressing the gathering, Yudhvir Sethi said that this project is part of the Modi government’s broader commitment to urban transformation and providing quality civic amenities to the people. 

He said that after the completion of the sewage project, the targeted areas will witness a significant improvement in overall sanitation, reducing the risks of waterborne diseases and environmental pollution. 

The modern and upgraded sewage network will ensure smoother waste disposal, prevent waterlogging during rains, and improve the quality of life for residents. He added that this initiative will also contribute to the beautification and modernization of Jammu city, making it more livable and in tune with Smart City objectives.

The senior BJP leader stressed on the importance of timely and quality execution, stating that the completion of this project will not only improve sanitation but also enhance the overall environment and public health in the area.He also reiterated the commitment of the Modi Government to provide world-class urban infrastructure, clean living conditions, and inclusive development under flagship schemes like AMRUT 2.0, ensuring that no area is left behind in the journey of progress.

Prominent among those who were present included Nidhi Mangotra, Dinesh Gupta, Swati Sharma, Raman Sharma, Vicky Pandey, Balwan Singh and Sunil Bindru.
