Yoga Session Held at Model Jail, Chandigarh to Mark International Yoga Day 2025

In celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the National Institute of Ayurveda, Panchkula (under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India), organized a special outdoor yoga session at Model Jail, Chandigarh.
Held on June 18, 2025 (Wednesday), the event aimed to raise public awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle under the theme “Yoga for Reform, Transformation in Life.”Aligned with this year’s global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the session was conducted under Outdoor Yoga Activities and focused on enhancing both physical and mental wellness among the inmates of the jail.
This inspiring session was organized in collaboration with the Indian Yoga Association and was efficiently coordinated by the NIA Panchkula team including Dr. Gaurav Kumar Garg (IDY Coordinator), Prof. Prahlad Raghu, and Dr. Sunita Yadav.
The vision and guidance for the program were provided under the leadership of the Institute’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma; Dean Prof. Gulab Pamnani (Academics & Administration); and Dean In-Charge Prof. Satish Gandharv.
The session conveyed the message of self-discipline, mental peace, and physical empowerment through yoga for the prison inmates.Main IDY Event on June 21: The main International Day of Yoga 2025 event will be held on June 21 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM at the campus of the National Institute of Ayurveda, Panchkula.
Hundreds of participants are expected to join the mass yoga session, and the event will be graced by the presence of several distinguished guests. All citizens are encouraged to actively participate in these celebrations, adopt yoga as a way of life, and contribute towards building a “Healthy India.”
