Sakeena Itoo visits Pampore Constituency

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today conducted an extensive tour of the Pampore Constituency to take stock of functioning of vital public utilities like PHC Kakapora, SDH Pampore and Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore and also review the progress of ongoing developmental projects in the Constituency.

MLA Pampore, Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi; MLA Rajpora, Ghulam Mohi Uddin Mir; Directors of Social Welfare, School Education, Health, Colleges, Family Welfare and Ayush, senior officers of district administration and other concerned officers also accompanied the Minister during the visit.

During her visit to PHC Kakapora, Minister Sakeena conducted detailed inspection of the infrastructure, staffing and availability of essential medical services at the hospital. She interacted with the healthcare staff and patients.

At PHC Kakapora, the Minister also reviewed the progress on ongoing works at under-construction building of the Primary Health Centre (PHC). She directed the executing agency to expedite the construction works and ensure timely completion of the facility within stipulated time frame. 

She also interacted with the general public and listened to their demands and grievances. Addressing the gathering, the Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to strengthening the health infrastructure across the Union Territory. 

She highlighted several welfare initiatives rolled out in recent months, including free bus service for women, enhancement in marriage assistance schemes and provision of free electricity units to AAY families, aimed at providing relief and support to the underprivileged sections of society.

The Minister later visited the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore and inaugurated a Dialysis Unit, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the local populace. Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized that the facility will greatly benefit patients suffering from chronic kidney ailments, who previously had to travel long distances for dialysis treatment.

At Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore, Minister Sakeena took detailed inspection of the academic and infrastructural facilities of the institution. On the occasion, Minister Sakeena launched “Shakh-e-Zafran”, a biannual newsletter of the college, aimed at documenting academic and extracurricular achievements of college.

Later on, the Minister alsobconvened a high-level meeting with senior officers of district administration. During the meeting, Minister Sakeena reviewed the progress of flagship programmes and directed officials to ensure effective convergence of schemes, especially those under RDD and social welfare, with allied departments for maximum impact.

She also reviewed the progress of key sectors like Jal Shakti, R&B, Agriculture and other departments. While reviewing the progress of social welfare schemes in the district, Minister Sakeena directed officers to clear all pending applications cases of old age pension, widow pension and marriage assistance in a time-bound manner.

Stressing on infrastructural and aesthetic improvements, the Minister called for beautification of college premises, timely macadamization of college roads, strengthening of drainage systems, and swift completion of all under-construction projects of college.

While reviewing the arrangements for upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival, the Minister laid special emphasis on ration distribution, availability of essential medicines and sanitation drives along religious places, urging officials to ensure that all arrangements are in place for smooth celebration of this grand festival.
