Reasi Admin observes International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

The District Administration Reasi, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Police organized a series of awareness events to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik as the Chief Guest. SSP Paramvir Singh; ADC Rakesh Kumar; ASP Iftkhar, and other district officers were also present. At the outset, a vibrant cultural programme was organised featuring Nukkad Natak, singing performances, and poem recitations by students.
The performances powerfully depicted the grave consequences of substance abuse. A special yoga session was conducted by KV Jyotipuram, encouraging participants to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the impactful cultural performances and stressed the importance of spreading mass awareness on this critical issue. “Drug abuse is a pressing social challenge with far-reaching psychological and social consequences.
It is our collective responsibility to ensure the youth are guided towards the right path,” she stated. She further highlighted the district administration’s commitment towards eradicating drug abuse, mentioning that awareness camps are being regularly organised across various blocks, schools, colleges, and localities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Earlier in the day, a rally was organised by the District Administration and Police Department to mobilize public participation in the fight against drug abuse. The rally, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and local residents, was flagged off by SSP Paramvir Singh.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge from all present to work collectively for a drug-free society and continue spreading the message of health, awareness, and positive engagement for youth.
