Priya Sethi describes Ahilyabai Holkar as a symbol of good governance, compassion & justice

Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Priya Sethi today described the legendary Maratha queen, Rani Ahilyabai Holkar as a timeless symbol of good governance, compassion, and justice.
“Her reign is remembered for its administrative excellence, peaceful coexistence, and significant contributions to infrastructure, including the renovation and construction of temples, dharamshalas, and water bodies across India,” she stated.
The former Minister was speaking at the commemorative event marking the 300th birth anniversary of legendary Maratha queen, renowned for her exemplary governance, social reforms, and spiritual contributions, in Kathua district.
These initiatives aim to educate party workers and the general public about the enduring values exemplified by Ahilyabai, resonating with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has consistently emphasized ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.’
Addressing the gathering, the senior BJP leader emphasized that Ahilyabai’s leadership was deeply rooted in Indian cultural values, and her ideals of justice, inclusivity, and development continue to serve as guiding principles for modern governance.
She highlighted the importance of connecting today’s youth with such historical icons whose work laid the foundation for an equitable and harmonious society. “It is crucial that we draw inspiration from such towering personalities and integrate their legacy into our current socio-political framework,” she added.
Priya Sethi highlighted that Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was a pioneer in women’s empowerment, implementing progressive policies that granted inheritance rights to women and supported their education and welfare.
These reforms, initiated over 300 years ago, laid the groundwork for gender equality in India. The former minister also drew parallels between Ahilyabai’s visionary leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contemporary initiatives aimed at empowering women.
She noted that schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and the Stand-Up India program have significantly advanced women’s rights and opportunities across the nation.
At last, the former minister urged the youth, especially the women of Jammu and Kashmir, to draw inspiration from historical icons like Rani Ahilyabai Holkar and come forward to take active roles in shaping the future of the region through education, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
She emphasized the importance of integrating their legacy into the current socio-political framework to build an equitable and harmonious society.
