NCC Camp 174 Commences with Emphasis on Discipline, Leadership, and National Unity

The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) – 174, organized under the aegis of the 2 Chandigarh Battalion NCC, commenced today at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, Chandigarh. The 10-day camp, scheduled from June 16 to 25, has brought together 425 NCC cadets from various schools and colleges across the region with the aim of instilling the core values of discipline, leadership, and patriotism.

Day One of the camp began with the registration process, biometric attendance, and allocation of accommodation. The camp was formally inaugurated by Camp Commandant Col Alok Kumar Roy, who delivered an inspiring opening address to the cadets and staff members. In his address, Col Roy underscored the proud legacy of the NCC in nation-building and the holistic development of youth.

“Being part of the NCC is not just about wearing a uniform; it’s about embodying the spirit of service, discipline, and national pride,” he said.He encouraged cadets to seize the opportunity to build leadership qualities and become responsible citizens.

“You are the future leaders of our country, and the experiences you gain here will shape your character and your future,” he added.The camp’s schedule is designed to offer a balanced mix of physical, intellectual, and ethical training. Key activities include:

•Drill and Parade Training

•Adventure Activities

•Leadership Workshops

•Community Service Initiatives aimed at fostering empathy and civic responsibility

•Lectures on Cyber Security by Constable Abhishek, to equip cadets with awareness in the digital era

Col Roy stressed the holistic development approach of the camp, blending physical training with mental and moral education.

“Our aim is to create well-rounded individuals who are not only physically fit but also mentally robust and morally upright,” he noted.

He also appreciated the unwavering commitment of the instructors and support staff, acknowledging their essential role in ensuring the seamless operation of the camp.
