Komal Mittal Sparks the Minds of Students with Her Inspirational Life Journey

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, during her maiden visit as a mentor to the students of the School of Eminence, Phase 11, Mohali, inspired students by sharing her motivational life journey and encouraged them to chase their dreams with determination and focus. Responding to a request from Class 12 student Sapna, DC Komal Mittal began by narrating her personal story.
She shared that although she initially pursued pre-medical studies after Class 10, but her inner voice led her to change course in college. Choosing commerce instead, she completed her studies with an MBA, backed by the unwavering support of her businessman father.
With a newfound goal, she prepared for the Civil Services Examination, securing the 125th rank in her first attempt and joining the Indian Revenue Services (IRS). During her IRS training, she attempted the exam again and achieved an impressive 19th rank, making her the first in her family to enter government service and realize her dream of becoming an IAS officer.
Motivating the students, she emphasized the importance of choosing a clear goal and pursuing it with conviction. “Nothing is impossible,” she said, “We should listen to our inner voice to shape our future.” In a heartfelt interaction with Class 10 and 12 students in the school library, student Guneet asked how to boost self-confidence.
The DC invited her to the dais and encouraged her to speak freely, which she did confidently. Guneet shared her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant. Similarly, Harmeet from Class 12-A expressed her ambition to become a cardiologist, while Simran shared her aspiration to become a doctor.
Students like Rajinder, Mohit Singh, and Mohit Rawat also shared that they now feel inspired to pursue commerce after hearing the DC’s journey. What was planned as a half-hour session extended to over ninety minutes, filled with questions, dreams, and inspiration.
The DC promised to return every month for further interactions and asked the students to come prepared with queries and aspirations for the next meeting. After the session, DC Komal Mittal reflected on the nostalgic moments, recalling her own school days. “I am more than happy to be a mentor to such bright students. I’ll do my best to address every query they have,” she said.
She also extended her gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann for giving her the opportunity to mentor these promising students. She requested DEO Ginni Duggal and Principal Lovish Chawla to prepare a list of support measures that could be taken with the help of good Samaritans to benefit these meritorious students.
