Kanika Mann On Her Lead Role In Punjabi Zombie Comedy ‘Jombieland’

Kanika Mann is all set to make a powerful return to Punjabi cinema with her upcoming film, Jombieland. The actress recently shared insights into what drew her to this one-of-a-kind project, which is uniquely set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse.

Speaking to IANS, Kanika described the film as “a delightful mix of comedy, horror, action, and romance, all woven into a thrilling survival story. With its quirky characters and engaging plot, it promises to entertain a broad audience.”

She added, “Whether you’re a fan of horror, comedy, or a heartfelt love story, Jombieland offers something for everyone. Its unique blend of genres ensures it’s an enjoyable watch for all kinds of viewers.”

Known for her role in Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, Kanika reflected on her experience, saying, “Being part of this film has been incredible. While I didn’t have to prepare for any zombie-specific elements since my character is a regular girl I focused on bringing Koko to life exactly as the director envisioned.

The script’s strength and the dedication of the team were what truly attracted me to this project. This is my first lead role in Punjabi cinema, and I’m thrilled to make my comeback with such a strong script and a talented crew. I hope the audience enjoys watching the film as much as we enjoyed making it.”

In Jombieland, Kanika plays Koko in Punjabi cinema’s first-ever zombie comedy, or “zom-com.” The film also features Binnu Dhillon, Angira Dhar, debutant actor-singer G Khan Guri, Dhanveer Singh, and Jassa Dhillon.

Written and directed by Thaparr, Jombieland has been celebrated as India’s pioneering Punjabi zombie comedy. The story unfolds in a lively village thrown into chaos by a sudden zombie outbreak caused by a dangerous virus.

At its core is the love story of Jeeti and Koko, a couple facing opposition from their families. But as the undead menace grows, their struggle shifts from seeking approval to fighting for survival. Jombieland is scheduled for release in Punjabi on June 13.
