Javed Ahmed Rana reviews TSP for holistic development of Tribal areas in J&K

Aimed at promoting holistic and sustainable development of tribal areas and communities in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today reviewed the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) submitted by the districts from across the Union Territory.

During the review, the Minister emphasized the importance of inclusive development and directed the concerned to ensure that the TSP is well-structured with effective execution and monitoring mechanisms in place. 

He stressed that the plan should be conceived, formulated and implemented in a manner that promotes inclusive growth in each area of social and economic indicators, thereby bridging the gap between the tribal and non-tribal communities.

The Minister directed the departments to strictly adhere to the guidelines laid down by NITI Aayog for funds allocation under the TSP. He emphasized that the funds allocated should be utilized effectively for the welfare of tribals, with a focus on promoting schemes that generate employment opportunities for tribal youth.

Rana highlighted the potential of agriculture, horticulture, dairy and sheep development sectors in generating employment opportunities for tribal youth. He directed for promoting schemes related to these sectors, with a focus on capacity building, skill development and entrepreneurship promotion.

“TSP with strict adherence to NITI Ayog guidelines will have a positive impact on the lives of tribal communities, enhancing their socio-economic status and promoting inclusive growth,” the Minister said while reiterating that tribal welfare is high on the priorities of JK government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
