Jaspreet Singh of Rupnagar Secures 3rd Position in Asian Championship for Kayaking

The Government of Punjab and the Department of Sports are continuously making efforts to uplift the standard of sports in the state. In a recent achievement, Jaspreet Singh from Rupnagar city secured third place in the K-4 1000 meter race of the Asian Kayaking Championship. This championship is being held in Thailand from June 12 to June 15, 2025.
On this occasion, MLA, Rupnagar, Advocate Mr. Dinesh Kumar Chadha, and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varjeet Walia congratulated Jaspreet Singh and his parents, extending best wishes for his continued success in the future. Coach and District Sports Officer, Jagjeevan Singh, informed that Jaspreet Singh hails from Choti Haveli village in Rupnagar district.
His father, Manjinder Singh, is also a former skilled hockey player and is currently serving as a physical education teacher. He further mentioned that Jaspreet started pursuing this sport in 2018, and through consistent hard work and determination, he has now achieved an international medal.
Jagjeevan Singh shared that Jaspreet initially played hockey and displayed exceptional talent. Recognizing this, he encouraged Jaspreet to take up kayaking. The athlete previously won a medal at the National Championship, securing his place in the National Games, where he finished fourth.
He also mentioned that Jaspreet Singh was selected by the Sports Authority of India and is currently undergoing intensive training in Bhopal.
