It is our duty to make people aware of their responsibilities to protect the Constitution: Balbir Singh Sidhu

Former Health Minister and senior Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu has called upon the residents of Mohali to participate enthusiastically in the upcoming ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’, scheduled to take place on May 31 at Sector 78, Mohali, as part of the Congress Party’s nationwide campaign.
Addressing public gatherings in several villages of the Mohali constituency, Sidhu emphasized the importance of this rally in spreading awareness about citizens’ duties towards safeguarding the Constitution. “There is immense enthusiasm among the people for the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’.
The primary objective of this campaign is to raise awareness at the grassroots level about the need to protect our Constitution,” Sidhu said. In the lead-up to the rally, Sidhu and his team visited multiple villages, including Mauli Baidwan, Raipur Khurd, Nagari, Gige Majra, Mote Majra, Patton, Gudana, Bathlana, Saneta, Kurdi, Tangori, Chilla, Maujpur, and Ballo Majra, engaging with local residents and urging them to participate in large numbers.
“People are actively joining this campaign. Through it, we are reaching out to citizens to remind them of their rights and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution. The Congress party is fully committed to protecting the Constitution and the rights of the people,” he added.
Reiterating the importance of constitutional values, Sidhu stated, “Our Constitution is our strength, and it is our sacred duty to defend it.” Taking a sharp dig at the central and Punjab governments, Sidhu accused them of exhibiting dictatorial tendencies.
He also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for appointing individuals from Delhi to head various departments in Punjab. “This is a clear violation of Punjab’s rights. Bhagwant Mann, in collaboration with Kejriwal, is attempting to hand over Punjab’s autonomy to Delhi — something we will never allow,” he asserted.
Concluding his address, Sidhu reaffirmed the Congress party’s resolve: “Our Constitution is our strength, and the Congress party remains steadfast in its commitment to defend it and uphold the interests of the people. This struggle will continue until the very end.”
