Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh Leads Anti-Drug Awareness Drive in Rural Patiala

In a significant move to combat drug abuse, Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, visited rural areas of Nabha and Patiala today to promote the state’s anti-drug awareness campaign. He was accompanied by Baltej Pannu, In-charge of the Anti-Drug Front, and Jagdeep Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor and Coordinator of the Malwa East Zone of the Youth Anti-Drug Front.

During his visits to Jasowal, Career Enclave, Aman Vihar, and Ranjit Nagar in Patiala Rural Block, Dr. Singh appealed to the public to actively participate in the fight against drug abuse. He emphasized that every Punjabi should contribute to this mission, which is yielding positive results under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Dr. Singh highlighted the crucial role of Village Defence Committees in monitoring drug-related activities and taking action against drug traffickers. He urged residents to report any information regarding drug abuse or trafficking to the police or committee members. 

He also informed the public about the availability of the WhatsApp helpline at 97791-00200 for reporting such issues.The Health Minister also announced that the government has arranged skill-based courses alongside treatment for individuals overcoming drug addiction, aiming to help them start a new life.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included several key figures from the Anti-Drug Front, including Mr. Yadvinder Goldy, Mr. Jai Shankar Sharma, Mr. Raspinder Singh, Ms. Sandeep Kaur, Mr. Jot Singh, Veer Singh, Ms. Baljit Kaur, Mr. Harpal Singh, Mr. Rajinder Singh, Mr. Amandeep Singh Bhullar, Ms. Manjit Kaur, Mr. Jarnail Singh Virk, Mr. Ranjit Singh, Mr. Harmel Singh Shergill, Mr. Balwinder Jeet Singh, Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Mr. Sukhdev Singh, Mr. Harnek Singh, Mr. Sanjeev Raj, Mr. Santokh Singh, Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mr. Avtar Singh, Mr. Keshav Singh, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Mr. Dhanraj Gupta, Mr. Nand Lal Ji, Mr. Hargurmeet Singh, Mr. Jaswant Singh, Ms. Devinder Kaur, and Mr. Surjit Singh, among others. A large number of local residents also attended the event, expressing their support for the campaign.

This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader “Yudh Nashian Virudh” (War Against Drugs) campaign, which has seen significant community involvement and the establishment of Village Defence Committees to monitor and report drug-related activities.
