Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan awareness camp organised at Town Hall Doda

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, commemorated as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, the District Administration Doda organised a special awareness and benefit saturation camp under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) India’s largest tribal empowerment campaign, here in the Town Hall.

The nationwide 15-day campaign is being observed from 15th to 30th June 2025 across the country, including the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and witnessed enthusiastic participation from tribal community members, students and officials of line departments.

Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the life and contribution of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who played a historic role in safeguarding tribal rights and identity. He informed that 15 tribal villages have been identified across Doda district for focused welfare interventions under government-sponsored schemes.

He emphasised that road connectivity remains the most critical need for tribal welfare, as it ensures access to healthcare, IT services, and educational support to tribal households residing in remote areas.

The DC directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to prioritise medical outreach in these areas and stressed the need for timely disbursal of tribal scholarships and benefits. He said the District Administration plans to establish tribal product sale centres across the district to promote and market handmade tribal goods, enhancing local livelihood opportunities.

Additionally, he directed the Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) to ensure full saturation of schemes under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in tribal belts. He also urged all officers to deliver services and information transparently and effectively during the ongoing Dharti Aaba celebrations.

Earlier, Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar Manhas shared key insights about ongoing government schemes and strategic planning for the empowerment of tribal communities. Information stalls and banners were displayed by the departments, offering detailed guidance on flagship schemes related to education, healthcare, housing, livelihood and skill development.

Tribal community members also highlighted key issues and suggestions during the interaction. The camp served as an effective platform to spread awareness about tribal rights and entitlements, promoting inclusive development in alignment with the vision of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh and Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan.
