DC Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma engages with Senior Citizens Council, commits to resolve key issues

In a crucial meeting held today, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, engaged with the Senior Citizens Council, which represents all Sub-Divisions and Tehsils of Kishtwar District. The gathering provided a platform for senior citizens to voice their concerns on a range of issues impacting the region.
Led by President Abdul Majeed Bichoo, the Senior Citizens Council presented a detailed list of grievances covering essential services such as water shortage, road conditions, electricity, generic medicines, pollution, transport, pension schemes, bridges, traffic parking, drainage, sanitation, and tourism issues affecting both rural areas and Kishtwar Town.
During the meeting, DC Kishtwar gave a patient hearing to all concerns and assured the representatives of his unwavering support from the District Administration. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing these matters in a timely and efficient manner.
A key highlight of the meeting was a request from the Senior Citizens’ representative of Tehsil Mughal Maidan for organising a health camp specifically for the elderly. The DC promptly assured that necessary steps would be taken to organize this initiative soon.
In response to the Council’s concerns, DC Kishtwar pledged to hold monthly meetings with the Senior Citizens Council, fostering continuous dialogue and ensuring the resolution of critical issues.
Pankaj Kumar Sharma recognized the invaluable role of senior citizens in monitoring the functioning of government initiatives. He stressed that their experience and wisdom are essential to identifying and solving real-time problems.
The DC also urged the senior citizens to raise awareness in their communities about preserving local heritage and government/public assets, highlighting the crucial role they play in sustaining the region’s future.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal, Tehsildar HQA Sonali Rani and members of the Senior Citizens Council Kishtwar.
