Clear Intent and Policy of the Government Earning Massive Public Support for Anti-Drug Campaign: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Owing to the transparent intent and firm policies of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign is receiving overwhelming support from the public. This was expressed by Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur during her visit to the Drug De-addiction Centre at Civil Hospital, Malout. 

On this occasion, she also commenced the work of laying interlocking tiles in the streets of Ward No. 3 in Malout city. During her visit, the Cabinet Minister directed officials to prioritise skill development courses, yoga sessions, and sports activities at de-addiction centres to help individuals reintegrate into the mainstream and lead better lives after rehabilitation. 

She further instructed officials from various departments to intensify awareness activities at the school level to educate students about the harmful effects of drugs and prevent rising drug trends in society. Dr. Baljit Kaur personally interacted with patients at the de-addiction centre, assuring them of every possible support under the State Government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ mission. 

She informed that treatment for nearly 70 patients is being ensured every month at this centre. Highlighting the government’s commitment to safeguard the rural youth from the menace of drugs, Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that libraries, playgrounds, gyms, and parks are being established in villages across Punjab. 

She also directed Health Department officials to encourage the public to adopt hygienic and healthy eating habits. Additionally, she instructed drug inspectors to keep strict vigil over suspicious chemist shops to ensure that no narcotic substances are sold illegally.
