CCT-CGC Landran organises FDP focused on research and biomedical innovation

A five day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Multidisciplinary advances in animal cell culture: Transforming Cancer Research, Diagnostics and Biomedical innovation was organised by the Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology (CCT), CGC Landran.

The FDP was aimed at bridging the gap between theory and practice by familiarising faculty members with the latest advancements in biomedical research, equipping them with advanced knowledge to further enrich the teaching-learning process.

The FDP was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest, Prof. Akash Deep, Scientist G and Director, Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali; Dr. Palki Sahib Kaur, Director-Principal, CCT, CGC Landran and members of faculty from the department.

The five-day event featured expert-led lectures and hands-on training sessions. The expert led lectures encompassed topics including Fundamentals of animal cell culture, cryopreservation, ImageJ-based image analysis, IVF cell culture dynamics, 3D organoids, lab-on-chip technologies, Mammalian cell culture-based bioprocessing, GraphPad Prism analytics, Cytotoxicity assays and Advanced imaging techniques using SEM and TEM.

Eminent speakers included Dr. Mohit Kumar from National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) Mohali; Dr. Deepika Sharma from Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) Mohali; Dr. Nirmal Bhasin from Milann, Chandigarh; Dr. Ravi P.N. Mishra from CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh and Dr. Manish Singh from INST Mohali. 

Comprehensive hands-on training sessions were conducted by Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, CCT; Dr. Abhinoy Kishore, Assistant Professor, CCT; and Dr. Nitin Sharma, Associate Professor, CCT, ensuring that all the participants gained practical, lab-based experience aligned with modern research demands.

These practical training sessions covered vital techniques such as media preparation, cryopreservation recovery, cell line maintenance, cytotoxicity assessment, literature management using Zotero and biostatistical analysis.

The FDP concluded successfully with an institutional visit to INST Mohali, offering all the participants a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to cutting edge research facilities while also helping foster academic collaboration and networking.
