Amrinder Singh Raja Warring condemns Abohar businessman’s killing

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today condemned the gruesome murder of Abohar businessman Sanjay Verma. Warring expressed sympathies with the bereaved family, saying that he and his party stood by them over their irreparable loss under such tragic circumstances.

The PCC president blamed the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state for its overall failure that had emboldened the criminals and gangsters who were going scot-free after committing heinous crimes in the state. He disclosed that the incident, which was one in the recent series, had shaken the people of Punjab, particularly the business community.

He quoted the media reports suggesting that Verma was killed reportedly over the ransom demands. “It is a strange situation where the common man is living in fear and terror while the criminals and gangsters are going scot-free as they do not have any fear of law”, he noted, while seeking answers from the Chief Minister and the Director General of the Punjab Police.

“You have failed on all your promises and the least that the people of the state expected from you was to provide them security, you have failed even in that also”, he told the AAP government. Warring also paid a visit to Dr Aniljit Singh Kambhoj who survived a similar murderous attack a few days ago in Moga.

The PCC president revealed that he had received a number of phone calls from the concerned and worried businessmen from across the state who were no more feeling safe in Punjab. “We have been demanding to nip the evil in the bud for a long time, but the government did not bother”, he said, while asking the government and the police to have “zero tolerance” towards crime, lest it is too late and Punjab slips into anarchy and lawlessness.
