Khanna : Punjab Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed 10-km Khanna-Amloh road, built at the cost of Rs 8.69 crore.Accompanied by Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli and Payal MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Singla said Covid-19 has hit road construction works in Punjab but the pace is being accelerated throughout the state. He said that work on Khanna-Samrala road would also begin soon and all requisite formalities have been completed.Singla said that work on this stretch would be over within three months once it starts. He said that ROBs would also be built on the railway crossings in Khanna Focal Point, Ratanheri, Jaspalon and Harbanspura

Singla who also holds the portfolio of the Education Minister said that the department is set to initiate the process of filling 10,000 posts of ETT.He said that the state government has enacted a Fees Regulation Act under which the schools can never take annual charges nor can force the students to buy uniforms/books from certain shops.He said the department has also cancelled the affiliation of 56 schools over complaints and it would continue to take action on the erring education institutes for not following rules.The Minister said the Punjab government had taken a stand over the issues fees by private schools in the High Court but the court’s decision came in favour of private schools so the Punjab government cannot put any pressure on fees to private schools.He appealed to the school managements to come forward themselves to give concessions in fees to the needy as the Covid-19 pandemic has hit poor/middle-class families hard financially.On the occasion, state secretary Rupinder Singh Raja Gill, Satnam Singh Soni, Shaminder Singh Mintu, Jatinder Sharma, Harinder Singh, Sandeep Singh Bal and others were present.
