Chandigarh : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has termed it shameful not to read the paragraph written on the farmers’ movement by the Punjab Governor during his address in the Vidhan Sabha on the second day of the budget session. Addressing a press conference before the commencement of the budget session on Tuesday, senior leader of the party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and MLA Aman Arora termed the Governor’s speech as a hoax and said that there was nothing other than the praise of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and the Congress. Addressing the media on the occasion, Harpal Singh Cheema said that in the Governor’s speech, it was written about the ongoing farmers’ agitation across the country but was not read out in the state assembly. He said that in the Governor’s address, the agriculture laws passed in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha were told to be pending with the Prime Minister, when in fact they were still with the Governor of Punjab. Cheema said that with this, the people of Punjab had been misled by lying. He said that for the last four years Captain Amarinder Singh government had been lying to the people of Punjab and this time also, the Punjab government had made the people read misleading speeches in the fifth address from the Governor. “In the address, it was said that jobs were given from door to door, farmers ‘debts were waived but the reality was that the youth of Punjab were struggling for employment on the streets, beaten by the police for demanding their rights and due to loans, farmers were committing suicides and their families being wiped out,” said Cheema.
He said that just like earlier during the SAD-BJP government, plundering was being carried out by various mafias, in the same way now Captain Amarinder was the kingpin of the mafia rule. Cheema said that the Congress government in Punjab had not taken any steps to stop the mafia which had been in power for four years. Aman Arora said that the Aam Aadmi Party had raised questions to discuss other important issues, but the Speaker illegally dismissed them. He said that an important issue among them was of the stray animals in Punjab. “Road accidents caused by stray animals are costing the lives of the people and causing severe damage to the crops of the farmers,” he added.Arora said that the second biggest issue was the mafia rule in Punjab which was running with the help of the Congress. He said that a notice was issued to discuss the ongoing mining mafia in Punjab, but the Speaker dismissed it saying that the issue was not fresh. It was also said that the names of the bigwigs running the mining mafia should be made public but they avoided it. “We want to ask Captain Sahab, how much commission he and the Congress ministers and leaders get,” he added. Arora said that Captain Amarinder and the SAD-BJP were running mafia rule together.Reading from the print document of the 2017 Vidhan Sabha session, Arora said that at that time when the Akali Dal MLAs were coming in the Vidhan Sabha and shouting and in order to silence them, Captain himself had said that if they (Akalis) had to dig out sand in the pits, they should continue to do it. After this all the Akali members went to their seats. This proves that all are united, he said. On the appointment of Prashant Kishor, who has been working on election strategy, as the Principal Adviser to Captain Amarinder Singh, he said that Captain has got the strategy to loot the elections, but he has not got any advisor to end the mafia rule in Punjab and get Punjab out of debt.
