DC Ashika Jain Conducts Meeting of District Road Safety Committee

S.A.S. Nagar : SAS Nagar to explore Feasibility of City Bus Service to reduce pollution and traffic chaos on city roads, said, deputy commissioner, Ashika Jain while holding a meeting of District Road Safety Committee, here, today.She said that the Electric Vehicles would be pressed into service to reduce pollution and save the environment. Primarily, 10 routes would be covered and the survey is in progress.
The routes planned included, Derabassi to Gharuan, Derabassi to Kharar, Zirakpur to Kurali, Zirakpur to Kharar, Kharar to Eco-city 1, Mohali Railway Station to Eco-city 1, Mohali Railway Station to Nayagaon, Mohali to Banur, Mohali to Mohali (City Areas) and Mohali to Derabassi.
The average route length would be 29 KM and the average frequency will be 15 minutes on each route. The second phase would include Derabassi to Kharar, Mohali Railway Station to Zirakpur, Mohali to Banur, Kurali to Chandigarh Air Port, Kurali to Sector 17 Chandigarh and from Lalru to Mohali, added the Deputy Commissioner. The second phase would have an average route length of 24 KM.
Besides, the deputy commissioner-cum-chairperson, the District Road Safety Committee, while reviewing the status of black spots, directed the GMADA and National Highway to further reduce the number from 37 to zero. She said the earlier number of black spots was 80 and we are continuously working to reduce it to zero.
To ensure compliance with Safe School Vaahan by school vehicles , the District Child Protection Office and Regional Transport Authority officials were asked to initiate a special campaign after summer vacation.
The traffic wing of the district police was asked to survey the intersection that needed speed tables to minimize road accidents on Aero city road.
The work of installation of speed tables would be done by the Municipal Corportaion/National Highway.Among the officers, present in the meeting, included, ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh, SDMs Sarabjit Kaur Mohali, Himanshu Gupta Dera Bassi, Secretary RTA , Pardeep Singh Dhillon.
