Sangrur : School education and public works minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla slammed the Punjab BJP leaders for remaining mum on the issues of Punjabi farmers and dared them to clear their stand on the bills passed by Congress government in Vidhan Sabha. Mr. Singla said, “Why is Punjab BJP silent on the passing of historic pro farmer bills in Punjab. They immediately should clear their stand whether they are for the bills or not.” The cabinet minister was here at Sangrur grain market to make the famers, arhtiyas and laborers aware of the newly passed bills and review the procurement process. While lashing out at BJP national president JP Nadda for his insensible statement on farmer protests in Punjab, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that Nadda’s clearly indicates that they are severely undermining the sacrifices of the farmers who are protesting day and night against the draconian bills passed by them in parliament. He added that some farmer brethren also laid their lives while protesting and the BJP chief has termed them ‘middlemen’ without checking the facts.“Apart from undermining the sacrifice of farmers, national level leaders of BJP clearly do not have any ground touch of how our system works. Punjab BJP too should also have to clear their stand on this issue, do they also consider Arthiyas as miscreants,” the cabinet minister said.Mr. Singla added, “How can they allow Haryana BJP leaders to comment and interfere in the matters related to Punjab and its farmers? Punjab unit leaders should come out of their comfort zones and should personally visit the protest spots to face the ground reality and clarify the situation to their leaders as well.”He added that Haryana BJP which has been passing sermons to Punjab, should clarify what is their current procurement status, by the recent reports there is a glaring 20 percent gap in their own purchasing of paddy this season.
