Green Energy Only Solution To Meet Future Power Requirements In Eco-Friendly Manner : Aman Arora

Longowal (Sangrur) : Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources, Information and Public Relations Minister Mr. Aman Arora, on Wednesday, said that the green energy is the only solution to meet future power requirements in an eco-friendly manner and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has continuously been working on several initiatives to find out sustainable sources of energy.

The cabinet minister presided over a brainstorming session, ‘Bijli Mahotsav’, jointly organsied by the PSPCL and Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) here at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET), Longowal.

The cabinet minister said that energy conservation is the need of the hour and people should actively participate towards this generous cause as it will.ultimately save the environment. He said that the state government was committed to save the environment of Punjab by replacing the traditional sources of energy with green energy.

He added that Punjab had led the nation in almost every sector and now it was the time to become a leader in green energy production under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

He added that if such initiatives would have taken during the regime of previous governments, Punjab could have produced sufficient power for its domestic, agricultural and industrial usage.

Following the directives of CM Bhagwant Mann, the PSPCL has provided sufficient power to the agricultural sector for the ongoing paddy season and there were no power cuts on the other sectors as well, the minister added.

Mr. Aman Arora said that the paddy stubble which was being burnt by the farmers could also be used to produce power and several projects which would use crop residual for power production were also underway in the state to produce clean energy.

He added that if the paddy stubble will be used in these plants, it would also help to stop the malpractice of crop residual burning in Punjab.Mr. Arora also appealed the people to adopt the methods of solar power generation which would reduce the load of traditional methods of energy production.

He said that the people should install the solar panels on the rooftops of their homes, industrial spaces and even farmers at any space available in their farms. He said that the solar panels were one of the most eco-friendly sources of power production and apart from producing cheaper electricity, it would also help to reduce pollution.

On this occasion, Director (Distribution) Er. DPS Grewal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Latif Ahmed, Dean Academic Jaspreet Singh Dhillon, Chief Engineer Distribution (South Patiala) Sandeep Gupta, Deputy Chief Engineer Sangrur Ratan Kumar Mittal, Joint Director PEDA Makhan Lal Arora and several other dignitaries were also present.
