Vocational Literacy for Jail Inmates campaign kicks off in District Jail Rupnagar

Rupnagar : As per directions of PULSA a special campaign on vocational training of jail inmates has been commenced in District Jail Rupnagar by efforts of District Legal Services Authorities Rupnagar District and Sessions Judge Rupnagar Ms Ramesh Kumari. Member Secretary PULSA Mr. Manjinder Singh graced the occasion with their presence and inaugurated the month long event which shall culminate on 20 October, 2023.
In this special campaign, special courses of beautician and tailoring have been started for the female ward and skill training courses of electrician, plumbing and horticulture have been started for male inmates by DLSA Rupnagar. ITI (Female ), ITI (Male ) Rupnagar and District Forest Office Rupnagar provided the trainers. While tool kits for various courses were provided by Monica NGO ACCP COPS.
While interacting with media, CJM-Secretary-District Legal Services Authority Rupnagar Ms. Himanshi Galhotra informed that District Legal Services Authority is committed to provide free legal services to jail inmates. The special vocational training campaign is based on the modern reformative ideology of criminal justice system.
Skill development courses shall keep the inmates busy and sway their thinking from crime. It shall help them obtain employment opportunities after being released from jail and live a respectable and self reliant life. Ld. Additional District and Sessions Judge Mr. Sanjay Agnihotri and CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Mohali, Mr. Baljinder Singh Maan, Jail Superintendent Mr. Gurnam Lal and
Deputy Superintendent Jail Mr. Anmoljeet Singh also remained present on the occasion. Jail inmates performed various cultural activities like singing, poetry and Bhangra on the occasion and expressed their gratitude towards the welcome step of legal services Authority towards their reformation and rehabilitation.
