Hara Bhara Ludhiana, DC Surabhi Malik flags off Hariyali Van- a mobile tree ATM

Residents can get free sapling by giving missed call on 8289066979 or by visiting www.cityneeds.info

Ludhiana : The district administration in association with local NGO Cityneeds launched a mission ‘Hara Bhara Ludhiana’ by offering free saplings to the people of the district.

The Hariyali Van-a mobile tree ATM was flagged off by Chetandeep Singh, a retired range officer who comes from the family of freedom fighters, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik.

While speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the people could give a missed call on 8289066979 or by visiting website www.cityneeds.info to get free saplings which would be delivered at their doorsteps through Hariyali Van.

She said that the people would get a link on their phones following the missed call and they could fill the online form by mentioning number of saplings, saplings of their choice they need and address details.

She said that later, the team of district administration comprising officials from forest department, municipal corporation in association with local NGO cityneeds would supply the saplings to them at their doorstep.

They will also offer support to them in carrying out the plantation.Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Amit Kumar Panchal, the Deputy Commissioner said that it was duty of every citizen to contribute to the well-being of our mother earth and this plantation campaign must become people’ movement.

She exhorted the people to give top-priority to environment conservation and should begin it with planting one sapling near their houses which would be given to them free of cost.

Malik also appreciated the efforts of Mridula Jain from Let’s Clean Ludhiana Foundation, Harleen from Act Humane, Parteek Verma and Mandeep from Marshal Aid Foundation, Maneet Dewan and Satpal from CityNeeds, Dr SB Pandhi from small ideas great ideas and other NGOs for supporting the District Administration in several initiatives.
