Development Projects Should Be Completed Within Set Time Frame: Deputy Commissioner

 Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed for providing city like facilities to the villages, the state government, with the support of Union government, has started Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission. He said that Dhandra cluster have got approval under this mission in which 21 panchayats/villages/colonies have been included and these areas would get city like facilities.While chairing a review meeting in this regard, Mr Sharma informed that work on this mission has been going on in full swing. Ludhiana : Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed for providing city like facilities to the villages, the state government, with the support of Union government, has started Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission. He said that Dhandra cluster have got approval under this mission in which 21 panchayats/villages/colonies have been included and these areas would get city like facilities.While chairing a review meeting in this regard, Mr Sharma informed that work on this mission has been going on in full swing. The residents of areas falling under Dhandra cluster are being provided facilities such as sewerage, roads, solar lights and other basic facilities. Besides, other development projects that were left incomplete due to shortage of funds, would also be completed under Shyama Prasad Mukherji Urban Mission. He informed that around Rs 100 crore would be spent under this mission.He informed that Shyama Prasad Mukherji Urban Mission was started by the Union government in the year 2016. He informed that it has now been started in Punjab and five districts, including Ludhiana, have been covered under it. He stated that Ludhiana is the first district of the state, where this project has started.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that under this mission, around Rs 7 crore have already been spent on various development works and solar lights have been installed in 21 villages. Other development works include constriction of rural huts, development of cremation ground, bus stop, library, Aanganwari, children park, primary smart school, besides work of laying sewerage in 8 villages have completed. The other under construction projects include a lake, multipurpose business centre, agro processing unit, cluster level commercial space centre, cluster level sports stadium, skill development centre, veterinary hospital, civil dispensary, smart secondary school, sewerage projects and construction of streets in villages.During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of various departments executing these projects to complete them within the set time frame. On this occasion, ADC (D) Mr Sandeep Kumar took progress of all projects from different departments. District Project Manager Mr MS Kang was also present on the occasion.The meeting was also attended by Zila Parishad chairman Mr Yadwinder Singh Jandiali, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Narinder Singh Benipal, besides several others.
