Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer Announces To Develop ‘Chak Kalan’ As A Model Village

Pays Tributes To Shaheed Kartar Singh Babbar On 84th Shaheedi Samagam

Chak Kalan (Nakodar) : Paying tributes to Shaheed Kartar Singh Babbar at his native village, Punjab Sports and Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Wednesday declared that ‘Chak Kalan’ will be developed as a model village with complete amenities including playground, model schools and upgraded college infrastructure.

The Minister also announced that playgrounds will be established in villages across the state which would further help to promote a sports culture in the state. These facilities will also go a long way in improving the tally of Punjab at the national level in sports.

After paying floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Kartar Singh Babbar, the Minister, addressing the people gathered to commemorate 84th Shaheedi Samagam, said that the Aam Aadmi Party’s Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was focusing to strengthen the sports culture so that budding sportspersons could secure laurels at national as well international level.

“It is matter of great pride for all of us as our players shine in the Commonwealth Games by clinching several medals in their respective games. It is high time to promote sports and AAP Government has already chalked out a detailed plan to develop playgrounds in rural areas in the state for ensuring better opportunities to excel in sports,” he added.

The Minister also announced that 25 playgrounds would be developed in the villages of Nakodar assembly constituency in first phase including football, basketball, volleyball, badminton and other sports.

Conceding to the demand put by MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann, the Minister also announced that one more Suwidha Kendra would be given to Nakodar area at a suitable place besides that the existing infrastructure of Government College Nakodar would also be upgraded.

He also gave his to provide a badminton court in the Nakodar city for its residents.Pointing out further, the Minister said, all promises made with the people of Punjab would be fulfilled as the Aam Aadmi Party’s Government was a transparent and corruption free one.

He said that there was no space for corruption in this Government and if anyone indulged in such malpractice, he would be brought to book.The Minister said that the previous Government had badly jumbled the entire system in the state and AAP Government was doing its best to fix all problems.

The Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initiated the process to regularize the services of contractual employees within months after assuming the office, which was only a pre-poll assurance by the other parties.It was the AAP Government which registered 25 percent revenue of the state despite severe crisis got in heritage from the previous Governments, he added.

Remembering Shaheed Kartar Singh Babbar, the Minister exhorted the youngsters to follow the ideology and thoughts of our great martyrs to realize their dreams. He said that all of us were relishing the fruit of independence just because of the sacrifices made by them, who fought for the sake of country.

Paying tributes to Shaheed Kartar Singh Babbar, MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann said that the contribution of our great martyrs in country’s freedom could not be overlooked. She also gave a clarion call to people to rise above Party lines for ensuring holistic development of rural as well as urban areas of the constituency.

Under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the MLA said that the Punjab would witness unprecedented development in next five years. She said that it was the only Aam Aadmi Party’s Government, which started work on its nearly 95 percent poll promises within a few months after taking the reins.

She also thanked the Minister for announcing various facilities to the Nakodar constituency.Prominent amongst those were present on the occasion included members of Shaheed Kartar Singh Babbar Sports Club besides Amit Ahuja, Amandeep Singh Mann, Jasvir Singh Shankar, Karnail Ram Balu, Gurinder Singh and Jatinder Singh Lalli.
