Kusum who was in high-spirit, reached DC office with her father Sadhu Ram and mother Raj Kumar, was warmly welcomed by Deputy Commissioner.Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori told the family that Kusum had made the Jalandhar proud and it was just a small token of appreciation for her exemplary bravery act.He told the family that administration has also recommended the name of Kusum for national and state bravery award and concern information has also been sent to Prime Minister and Chief Minister’s offices. Deputy Commissioner said Kusum has proved that if given chance, the girls can achieve anything.He said that as Kusum’s parents motivated her for NCC and taekwondo which instilled confidence in her resulting she exhibited immense courage during the snatching incident.The Deputy Commissioner assured fulsome support to Kusum for realising her dream of becoming a police officer. He also asked the family to contact his office anytime for any kind of help.The Deputy Commissioner also launched ‘Dadi Ate Poti di Jodi’ an online contest’ in which young girls in the age of 15 can participate. He said that the girls can contest for ‘Selfie with Dadi’ and a Video on relations of ‘Dadi and Poti’ (30 seconds -60 seconds) and have to send the entries on WhatsApp number 98720-21457 till September 21, 2020. He said that the first three best entries would get a cash award of Rs 10,000, Rs 5000 and Rs 2100. Ten consolation prizes of Rs 1100 would also be awarded.Prominent among present on the occasion included SDM Rahul Sindhu, Assistant Commissioners Harpreet Singh, Hardeep Singh, District Program Officer Gurminder Singh Randhawa and others.
