Commissionerate Police arrest five drug peddlers, seize 3-kg opium and drug money worth Rs 80000

Tightening the noose further around the drug peddlers, the Commissionerate Police have arrested five drug peddlers and recovered 3-kg opium and drug money worth Rs 80000 from their possession, in separate incidents.The accused peddlers have been identified as Satyapal (28), Ajit Kumar (29), Abhay Gautam (22) of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh originally and have been residing in Sherpur, Ludhiana presently, Rajinder Singh (44) of Shiva Ji Nagar and Ajad Singh (41) of village Dahar in Panipat district of Haryana.Disclosing more information, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that a team of CIA-1 was carrying out checking in Ranjeet Nagar T-point Ladowali road and frisked Satyapal, Ajit Kumar and Azad Singh and recovered 2.5 kg opium besides Rs 80000 as drug money.Commissioner of Police further said that similarly, another team of CIA-

The cops frisked him and recovered 250 gm opium from his pocket and on his instance, Ajad Singh was nabbed from Lamba Pind Chowk.He said Raju was a property linker and was receiving opium from Azad who in-turn was getting a supply of contraband from Uttrakhand. Both have also been facing criminal cases in the past.Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Satyapal, Ajit Kumar and Azad Singh were procuring the opium from Uttar Pradesh and getting Rs 3000 for making each delivery in Punjab’s various districts.He said that fresh cases have been registered against them under various sections of the NDPS Act.Commissioner of Police said that the accused persons would be taken on production remand to quiz them further about their link-ups.
