Vibrancy returns in government schools of district Mohali as Schools witness over 70 percent attendance, says DC Aashika Jain

DEOs Visit School to check attendance

S A S Nagar : Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the government schools of the SAS Nagar district attracted a very good number of students on Day-1, after reopening from Flood Holidays. She said that the recent heavy rains and floods in the state, had hampered the study of the students in the schools of district SAS Nagar, too, as most of the schools were prone to floods.
Yesterday, the administration with the help of Panchayats and School teachers had initiated a special campaign to make the schools safe for the students by dewatering and cleaning. District Education Officer (Elementary) Ashwani Kumar Dutta informed that teams were formed to visit the schools affected by floods yesterday and today.
He said that most of the schools in the district have been cleaned and dewatered till yesterday and the schools have been opened today. Deputy DEO (Elementary) Parminder Kaur and Block Primary Education Officers visited the schools to take stock of the safety of the students.
Due to problems in three primary/middle schools of District Mohali, instructions have been issued by the Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain to keep the schools closed till further orders, cleaning and drainage work was going on in these schools today. He said that, he himself visited government primary schools Gazipur, Nagla and Bhankharpur at Block Derabassi, where the school buildings were in good condition for the safety of the students.
Similarly, Deputy District Education Officer (Elementary) Parminder Kaur visited Government Primary School Desu Majra and Jhungia School of Block Kharar. Here, too, the conditions were conducive for the educational environment.
BPEOs also visited the schools in their respective blocks and took stock of the conditions conducive for the safety of students. DEO (Secondary) Dr Ginni Duggal added that attendance at Upper Primary Schools were also considerably very good. It has been assessed at 70 percent, she added.
